Scottish Jacobite Party

The Scottish Jacobite Party was founded in 2005. Unlike the original Jacobites, whose goal was to restore the House of Stuart to the thrones of England, Scotland and Ireland - treated as separate states, the unions of 1707 and 1801 having been performed under the rulers they considered illegitimate - this party wants to make Scotland an independent republic (their slogan is "Citizen is the King"), which would leave the European Union and also annex the parts of England between the current border and the latitude 54 degrees, 7 minutes North, where lies the southernmost point which was reached by the army of the Young Pretender during the Jacobite Rebellion in 1745. A consequence of the last demand, particularly specified in the party statement, would be the transfer of Newcastle United F.C., Sunderland A.F.C., Middlesbrough F.C. and Carlisle United F.C. to the Scottish Premier League. The party program (which deals with the Scottish football more than given above, and probably more than those of other parties!) did not win a significant number of votes in the 2007 Scottish elections and the party was de-registered the same year. The party was re-registered with The Electoral Commission in 2010 and ran the elections in same year, failing again to achieve a significant result.

The party flag, as was stated at their website, is derived from that of Scotland by changing the field color into red and replacing the saltire with two crossed white sword blades, shown as casting shadows one over the other and both over the field; the last detail was not mentioned in the text, but was visible from the photos, as well as from the images at the site. The photos were showing the flag together with that of Scotland and sometimes with the Disunion Flag as well. Unfortunately, most of the site content, including all of the photos, was removed since early 2009, so it is impossible to precisely date the photos here, but they might have been made at Glenfinnan in July 2005, when the party founding was publicly announced. Only the home page has remained at the website, and it still shows the image of the party flag: http://www.scottishjacobites.com/

The party profile at Facebook, however, does not show that image, but a red flag with a white saltire, more similar to that of Scotland: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=13106367915

It is yet to discover what does that mean - the party flag change or a proposed flag for an independent Scotland, or something else that is currently known to party members only. Until more is known about that, the party website remains the more relevant source.
